BRECKENRIDGE
Breckenridge Recreation Center, 880 Airport Road
If you need a way to relax before the craziness that is St. Patrick’s Day, the Breckenridge Recreation Center is offering $5 Hot Tub Happy Hour on Saturday, March 15, and Sunday, March 16. From 5 to 7 p.m., $5 per person gets you full use of the rec center, including the pool, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, water slide, showers, sauna, stretching area and more.
The rec center will also be hosting St. Paddy’s Day shenanigans on the field on Saturday, March 15, with the third-annual Snowpitch Softball Tournament. Registration is closed for the 21 and older tournament, sponsored by Coors Tap the Rockies, but spectators are welcome. Breckenridge Ski Resort
On Saturday, March 15, Breckenridge Ski Resort is hosting the T-Bar and Sevens Barefoot Wine event. From 2 to 5 p.m., show up at Sevens Restaurant at the base of Peak 7 or T-Bar at the base of Peak 8 for giveaways, drink recipes, a “Get Barefoot and Have a Great Time” contest and a cork toss.
Breckenridge is also hosting the Royal Flush Big Mountain Comp on Saturday, March 15, with snowboard and ski categories in different age groups. The contest will take place in Peak 8’s Contest Bowl. Burke & Riley’s Irish Pub, right off Main Street, will open at 8 a.m. on St. Patrick’s Day, Monday, March 17. Snag a traditional Irish breakfast or an eye-opener shot of Jameson first thing in the morning while a DJ spins beats to get you in an Irish mood. The restaurant and bar will also be serving homemade corned beef and cabbage, bangers and mash and their famous fish and chips.
Stick around for live Irish and American music from Denver band Sherman Woods at noon, or rock out Irish style to live bagpipe music. The green beer will be flowing, and Burke & Riley’s will have their special St. Patrick’s Day T-shirts and will be giving away beads and hats.
“We’re going to have the open patio,” said co-owner Mark Burke. “Bands will be playing outside because the weather’s suppose to be beautiful. It’s the only holiday of the year that everybody celebrates no matter what nationality you are. Everyone’s Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.”
