Breck Spring Fever festival beings Saturday, March 22, with freeski event

#Breckenridge, Colorado.

Breckenridge Ski Resort is in the home stretch of ski season with a fever — Spring Fever, that is. The resort’s monthlong Spring Fever Festival is one of the largest spring parties in the Rocky Mountain region and starts on Saturday, March 22, at the ski area and around the town of Breckenridge.
This weekend’s Breck Spring Fever events are as follows:
GoPro Big Mountain Challenge on Peak 6, Saturday, March 22
This International Freeskiers & Snowboarders Association-sanctioned event features the best youth freeriders on Peak 6. With steep lines, tight chutes and big cliff drops, this event will test some of the best big-mountain freeriders in the country as they compete for points in the IFSA series. This is a spectator-friendly event, so come to Peak 6 to watch athletes rip lines some only dream about. The GoPro Big Mountain Challenge venue can be accessed via the Kensho SuperChair. Follow Bliss to the end of the vertical rope line and traverse right to the finish area at the base of the Six Senses terrain for spectator viewing.
Breck’s Chili Cook-off, Sunday, March 23
Sevens Restaurant is going to heat up as the top chefs from Breckenridge Ski Resort face off against one another to see whose chili recipe is the best. The cook-off is from noon to 2 p.m. at the Sevens Restaurant Patio at the base of Peak 7. Indulge in all the chili you can handle and vote for your favorite recipe for $12 per person. Tickets will be available on site at the event.
Ripperoo’s World Cup, Sunday, March 23
Ripperoo encourages kids of all ages to take part in a fun race on Swinger, located on Peak 8. Show up at the start gate at any time throughout the day, fill out the registration form, and off you go. The first 40 kids to race win a special prize from Ripperoo. This event is for kids of all ages who can ski or snowboard, and a lift ticket is required.
Concerts and additional events
The Bud Light Free Concert Series brings the party to Breckenridge with four concert days of big-name national acts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons on the mountain. This year’s lineup includes Big Bad Voodoo Daddy on Saturday, April 12; The Gin Blossoms on Sunday, April 13; Yonder Mountain String Band on Friday, April 19; and Blues Traveler on Saturday, April 19.
All concerts will be free to the public and will take place on a specially constructed stage on the snow just outside One Ski Hill Place at the base of Peak 8 from 2 to 5 p.m. on each concert date.
