Breckenridge “officially” transforms into a holiday scene on Saturday, Dec. 6, with the Lighting of Breckenridge and Race of the Santas, when hundreds of runners and walkers don Santa suits to benefit Adopt an Angel Summit County. Free hot cocoa and cookies keep revelers warm until sunset.
After the race, the real Santa Claus lights the town tree and visits with families. Race registration is $15 if you provide your own suit or costume, or $45 with a Santa suit included.
Both price points include a donation to Adopt an Angel Summit County. Kids race free with a parent, reindeer antlers and jingle bells included.
Breckenridge’s holiday activities continue throughout the month and include the BreckCreate Handmade Holiday Market, Dew Tour and New Year’s Eve parties. The town’s independent retailers are also offering up all manner of gifts: made-in-Breckenridge jewelry, funky children’s wear, mountain fashions, artisan foods and more.
