Breckenridge's International Snow Sculpture Championshhips  kicked off this week at Riverwalk Center, located at 150 West Adams Ave., in downtown Breckenridge.

The teams are tasked with hand-carving a 25-ton block of snow into a work of art within four days using only hand tools. The carving kicked off Monday, Jan. 22, and sculpting ends on Friday, Jan. 26, at 9 a.m. The sculptures can be viewed until the event ends on Wednesday Jan. 31 at 5 p.m.

The weekend — Friday through Sunday — is historically the most popular time for sculpture viewing, so timed entry reservations will be required on Saturday, Jan. 27. There is no cost for a timed entry, and spectators can sign up for a sculpture viewing time slot at 10 a.m., noon or 2 p.m. For reservations, visit
