The third annual Bluegrass and Greens charity golf tournament returns to The Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks in Silverthorne Memorial Day, May 26. Each year the event benefits area youth charities. This year proceeds will be divided among the Summit Nordic Ski Club, Summit County Youth Baseball, Open Arms Day Care and the Summit County 4-H.
“It’s really our season-kickoff locals golf tournament,” course director Mark Nickel said. “It’s a fun Memorial Day of golf, barbecue and bluegrass.”
In years past the event has raised around $10,000 that is split among the four charities. Nickel said each year the tournament has continued to raise more and more money, and this year he hopes to bring in close to $12,000.
“A lot of these programs aren’t big enough to put on fundraisers by themselves,” he said of the event’s support of multiple groups.
In addition to the round of golf, the event features live music, a barbecue lunch buffet and silent auction.
“The last couple years they’ve had some great items gifted for the silent auction,” Nickel said.
The tournament is formatted as a team scramble with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Team entries are $345 per team of four or $90 per individual. Space is limited, but Nickel said there were still a few openings. The registration fee includes the round of golf and lunch.
Guests can contact the Raven to register.
