#Breckenridge, Colorado.
Breckenridge Ski Resort announced today that Peak 6 terrain and lifts will open for the first time ever to the public at noon on Christmas Day. The opening of Peak 6 represents one of the biggest and most notable ski area terrain expansions in North America in the past decade, and will be the first at Breck since the Peak 7 expansion in 2002.
The inaugural season of the Peak 6 expansion will also feature two brand new chairlifts, the Zendo Chair and Kensho SuperChair, which will both start operations for the first time that day at noon on Dec. 25.
Those lifts will take riders and skiers to high alpine, above treeline intermediate and expert terrain.
Lifts, trails and terrain for opening day on Peak 6 will be dependent upon weather conditions and snow coverage.
“We couldn’t be more excited about being able to open Peak 6 on Christmas day,” said Pat Campbell, chief operating office for the resort, in a written statement. “This project has been years in the making, and thanks to the incredible efforts of the entire project team, we are poised to be able to open Peak 6 on schedule, and deliver the holiday gift of a lifetime to our guests from around the world.”
