Breckenridge’s annual celebration of all things winter will kick off in early December in hopes of encouraging Ullr, the Norse god of snow, to bless the local peaks with powder all season long.
Before the partying begins, anyone who needs a Viking-inspired hat can create one for $35 at Ready Paint Fire! from noon to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7.
Ullr Fest officially begins with the crowning of this year’s king and queen at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 7. The crowning ceremony honors two locals who exemplify the community’s character by serving Summit County.
Next, 1,377 people will take their places along the world’s longest Shotski to benefit Summit Mountain Rotary. The record-breaking attempt will happen at 4:20 p.m. on Dec. 7, and tickets cost $15.
Festivities continue Thursday with the Ullr Parade where creative floats compete for cash prizes on Main Street from 4:30-6 p.m.
Closing the events Thursday evening will be the Ullr Bonfire with DJ DC at the East Sawmill Parking Lot. The bonfire begins at 5:30 p.m.
