Alpenglow Chamber Music Festivals

For the next two weekends, the Alpenglow Chamber Music Festivals will host its 22nd fall season across multiple venues for more chances to catch tunes.
Directors pianist Rieko Aizawa and violinist Jesse Mills return to Summit County, bringing internationally acclaimed musicians, viola player Masumi Rostad, cellist Rahman Ramakrishnan, clarinet player Igor Begelman, violinist Aaron Boyd, and viola player and composer Kenji Bunch.
At 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, the season’s first event will be a soirée, where Aizawa, Mills, Ramakrishnan and Rostad present “Bohemian Rhapsody” featuring two master Czech composers, Smetana and Dvorak. The soirées offer a Champagne reception prior to the concert with wine and appetizers afterward in an intimate setting, giving an opportunity to mingle with the musicians.
At 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, guests can hear the music of Haydn, Dohnanyi, Shchedrin and Brahms at the Frisco Day Lodge. There will be light refreshments and a cash bar with wine and beer 30 minutes before the concert and during intermission.
Another soiree at a private home will occur at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, when Aizawa, Mills, Ramakrishnan, Begelman, Boyd and Bunch will perform “Flash and Elegance,” featuring works by Mendelssohn, Bunch, Schnittke and Mozart.
Finally, at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Silverthorne Performing Arts Center, the musicians will present the sounds of Weber, Schumannand Cage along with featuring Bunchin and his evocative piano quartet, “Hard Winter/Holler and Stomp.”
New this season, the final concert will be preceded by a wine pairing at the Silverthorne Performing Arts Center, catered by Sauce on the Blue.
