The 2017 Lake Dillon Art Festival will feature impressionist painter and founder of Plein Air Painters of Hawaii Jan Bushart as one of 80 artists who will be at the festival, according to a news release.
Bushart is known for her oil paintings and has won numerous awards and honors. She paints up to 4-foot by 5-foot canvases on locations throughout Hawaii and Colorado, and she will be showcasing a mixture of Colorado landscapes and Hawaii seascapes this weekend at the downtown Dillon festival that begins today and goes through Sunday.
Also, jewelry designer Danny Bushart, husband to Jan Bushart, who has been creating heirloom quality jewelry for 25 years, will be exhibiting at the show.
Other artists and works will include a registered Kispoko Shawnee, sculptor John Kessler, whose signature stone is expanded obsidian, a black volcanic glass hand-chosen from a mine near Yosemite National Park in California.
Also the husband-and-wife team of Kevin D. Miles and Wendy Schaefer-Miles are rather unique, as the two artists work side-by-side on the same canvas to create a shared vision. The Wisconsin Foundation for the Arts even selected the pair as its commissioned artists, an honor that afforded them the opportunity to hang a painting in the governor's mansion.
Then there is Tim Zandee, whose giant dark room prints grace the homes of famous actors and athletes and the offices of top CEOs. According to the release, Zandee's eye for capturing nature can be seen in works that reveal the beauty of Hawaii, Cape Cod, Alaska, the Virgin Islands and more. He achieves this through countless hours of hiking, searching and patience waiting for the perfect natural light on his subjects.
The three-day festival in downtown Dillon at Lake Dillon Drive and Teller Street is free, and there will be drawings for cash prizes. For more, SummitCountyArtFestival.com.
