Colorado’s Commission on Affordable Health Care is holding a meeting in Summit County on Friday, June 17, and all residents concerned about the rising cost of health care are encouraged to attend.
The public meeting, to collect input from local citizens, will be held at the Summit County Community and Senior Center (83 Nancy’s Pl. in Frisco) from noon to 2 p.m. The gathering is part of a series of events put on by the panel throughout the state in May and June to seek ideas and perspectives from Coloradans in working toward proposing collaborative solutions to address this growing obstacle.
“The rising costs of health care are bringing members of our community to the financial brink, and we need to start getting a better handle on this issue,” County Commissioner Dan Gibbs said in a statement. “The commission really needs to hear from Summit County residents and understand their struggles as it studies this problem and seeks solutions.”
The commission was established in 2014 through legislation to analyze health-care and make policy recommendations to the state’s governmental officials to lower costs. It was granted a three-year window to complete its work and submit a report to the Colorado General Assembly and the Governor’s Office. That report is expected by late 2017.
The commission is made up by 12 voting members, consisting of various public- and private-sector health-care experts, as well as five non-voting members from state government. Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP in advance at: www.surveymonkey.com/r/cocostcommissionmtg.
