Colorado faces a long weekend of turbulent weather, with high fire danger followed by thunderstorms and then heavy snow.
The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for most of eastern Colorado Thursday, with gusty winds and low humidity raising wildfire danger.
Forecasters say a winter-like storm is expected to edge into western Colorado Friday, while thunderstorms could hit southeastern Colorado and the Interstate 25 corridor.
The Weather Service says the northern Front Range mountains could get two to four feet of snow by early Sunday while the San Juan Mountains in the southwest could get up to two feet.
The storm could bring relief from a drought that’s been slowly worsening in southwestern Colorado, but little moisture appeared in the forecast for southeastern Colorado, where conditions were drier.
