Take a trip through exotic cuisine provided by the Blue River Bistro as the restaurant hosts the World Cuisine Wine Dinner to benefit theNational Repertory Orchestra on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 6:30 p.m. Experience an elegant, four-course wine pairing and dinner with chef Brandon Farr’s menu sourced from highly prestigious appellations.
“There is a lot of time and effort that goes into planning and supporting such a special event,” said Jay Beckerman, owner of the Blue River Bistro. “Many things need to be done far in advance. Our wine suppliers have been extremely generous, as they typically need to get their cases earmarked early in the budget calendar to donate cases.
“Chef Brandon Farr is an extremely talented member of the Blue River staff, and he has an extremely busy job. Not only does he create the next season’s brunch, lunch, dinner and dessert menus, sources the products from the food purveyors, plans for the restaurants prix fixe evenings such as Valentine’s Day and New Year’s and creates menus for multiple fundraisers, but he also works on the line five days a week cooking.”
The process of creating a special event menu is much more time consuming than one may think, Beckerman said, but despite the time commitment, he said he loves supporting the NRO and looks forward to continuing the support for years to come.
“Farr is certainly a multi-faceted chef, and we are so lucky to have him preparing what is sure to be a fantastic menu for this event,” Beckerman said.
Bob and Nancy Follett will be the honored guests for the evening, said Julie Chandler, director of development for the NRO. The couple plans to move to Denver, and the NRO will miss them dearly, she said.
“Their philanthropic contribution to the National Repertory Orchestra and many other nonprofit organizations in Summit County has been incredible,” Chandler said. “To say that we have been touched by their sincere devotion to our cause does not sufficiently express our gratitude. Bob and Nancy have been the soul of generosity and the backbone of the NRO.
“Come enjoy a beautiful meal and take the opportunity to thank Bob and Nancy Follett for all they’ve done for the folks in Summit County over the years. Please let us know if you are unable to attend the event and would like to make a donation to the NRO in their honor.”
Tickets for the event are $75 per person and include the four-course dinner, wine pairings, tax and gratuity. RSVP to the NRO by calling (970) 453-5825 or visiting www.nromusic.com. Seating is limited.
